Derek Lovley is a Distinguished Professor of Microbiology at the University of Massachusetts and a Strategic Scientist at Wuhan University of Technology.  His electromicrobiology research currently focuses on the physiology and ecology of direct interspecies electron transfer (DIET) and corrosion, as well as the design of synthetic protein nanowires for sensor and energy harvesting applications.
