The title of the plenary is "Understanding human and other animal behavior: ethology, welfare and food policy" Dr. Michael Appleby's career has spanned both research in and teaching of the behavior, husbandry and welfare of farm animals, mainly pigs and poultry. He also worked for a decade in non-governmental organisations, including The Humane Society of the United States, and World Animal Protection.
