It outlines the overall rationale for EU action in the field and its objectives, giving background to the research and innovation funding to the area and highlighting the economic, societal and policy perspective. This will be done with reference to Europe's position in the international context. The presentation will also take up aspects of the Commission's current thinking and the future outlook of AI.
