Welcome to Aarhus, host for TIBS2026!

The International Biogeography Society, in collaboration with Aarhus University, is excited to welcome you to the 12th Biannual Conference in Aarhus, the city of Smiles.

The conference will be held at Aarhus University campus from January 6th - 10th, 2026 with a maximum capacity of 400 people.

This conference will bring together biogeographers from around the world and from many different fields, to exchange research, foster innovations, and push the field in new and exciting directions!

The conference will host a number of invited speakers from leaders in the field, contributed talks, workshops, two poster sessions, and excursions around Aarhus.

The conference banquet will give you an opportunity to mix with researchers old and new, make new connections, and indulge in the Danish custom of "Hygge".

We welcome you warmly to the city of Smiles, and hope to make TIBS2026 an unforgettable experience!

If you are an early-career researcher from the Global South, you can apply for the Maria Sibylla Merian 'Frontiers of Biogeography' student travel award to cover participation costs.

Doctoral students with accepted talks or posters and who will be traveling to the conference from outside Denmark, can apply for the Vicki Funk Memorial 'Current Zoology' award to help towards their participation costs.
