Made in China 2025 and the competitive space for private and foreign companies

Yang Jiang will discuss China’s ambitious industrial plan to move up the value chain in strategically important and advanced industries, dubbed ‘Made in China 2025’. With the government’s support of domestic industries and enhancing ‘local content’, the plan poses both challenges and opportunities for private and foreign companies operating in China, as well as China’s trading partners. Among the ten priority sectors, several are relevant for Denmark, including new energy, shipping, agricultural equipment, IT and pharmaceuticals.

Yang Jiang is Senior Researcher at the Danish Institute for International Studies. She does research on contemporary political economy of China, with a focus on the linkage between domestic economic reform and foreign economic policy.
