Call for papers 

The Brazilian Studies Program at Aarhus University is pleased to announce the VI Jornadas Pedagógicas de Língua Portuguesa that will take place at Aarhus University from the 28^th to the 30^th of October 2019.

Organised in the Nordic countries, this international event traditionally brings together professionals working with Portuguese as mother tongue, native, heritage, foreign, welcoming, additional or second language, not only from the Scandinavian countries and Finland but also from other countries and continents. The conference provides an opportunity for academics and professionals from various fields, such as literary and cultural studies, linguistics, language acquisition, learning and teaching methodologies, technologies and online education, to share their knowledge and research findings. The discussion aims at informing classroom and assessment practices, as well as programs, curricula and didactic materials development. The conference welcomes current studies focusing at all the educational levels and institutions, from preschool to Higher Education, including online and free courses.

 

In its 6^th edition, the main theme of the conference will be: Active learning methodologies and the teaching of Portuguese for social participation. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the folowing:

• Methodologies and pedagogic approaches for Portuguese teaching and learning
• Portuguese as a pluricentric language
• The inter/cultural dimension in Portuguese learning and teaching
• Didactic materials
• Language assessment and proficiency
• Literacy and academic literacy
• Art and literature in Portuguese learning and teaching
• Technologies in Portuguese learning and teaching
• Translation and Portuguese learning and teaching
• Teachers education
• Language policy
• The use of corpora in teaching
• Interdisciplinary Teaching and Portuguese for specific purposes
• Curriculum and course design
• Portuguese as a welcoming language
• Portuguese for kids
• Portuguese language acquisition

VI Jornadas Pedagógicas de Língua Portuguesa Conference: October 28, 29, and 30, 2019

 

Abstract Submission and participation formats

• 20-minute paper presentation (abstract: 300 to 400 words, excluding authors, title, references)
• 60-minute panels (abstract: 400 to 700 words; we recommend three 15 minutes papers  + 15 minutes discussion)
• File format: Word, Times New Romans font, size 12. The file should include title, authors and their institutions, as well as objective(s), theoretical framework, methodology, (preliminary) results and 3 to 5 keywords.

 

The event main language will be Portuguese. Presentations and abstracts may be in Portuguese or English. Please, submit your abstract no later than July 31, 2019 via the e-mail 6jornadaspedagogicaslp@gmail.com. You will be notified of the outcome of the review process by August 15, 2019.

 

Registration fee

Authors of accepted papers who will attend the event must pay the registration fee, as well as all conference attendees.

Fee: 420 Danish Kroners (DKK). Payment link will be available from August 15.

Registration fee includes: conference materials, certificate of attendance, coffee breaks refreshments during the days of the conference.  * Please, let us also know if you have any special dietary requirements.

If you also plan to attend the dinner on the second day of the event, please let us also know if you have any special dietary requirements. Conference dinner’s price, venue and time will be provided in due course.

 

Conference venue

The conference will be in Aarhus, at Aarhus University. Aarhus is a charming city, cruise ship destination, culturally lively, surrounded by forests and beaches. Its museums and public spaces reveal the characteristic Danish design and historical buildings. Aarhus was the European Cultural Capital in 2017.

Conference venue and info about practicalities (transport, accommodation, weather etc.) will be provided in due course.
