Surveillance Studies Network has decided to organise their 8th biennial conference in collaboration with Aarhus University's Center for Surveillance Studies (CENSUS) and University of Copenhagen's Uncertain Archives.
Aarhus University's Center for Surveillance Studies is a center for researching, teaching and experimenting with surveillance technologies and practices. It was formed in 2017 by Anders Albrechtslund and Peter Lauritsen. Both have been involved in surveillance research for many years.
Uncertain Archives is a comprehensive research project at University of Copenhagen, which approaches big data archives through the lens of uncertainty. It is headed by Kristin Veel, who has published extensively on database cultures, surveillance and transparency. Veel has worked on the project Calm Surveillance and she is co-organiser of the research network Negotiating (In)Visibilities.
