The Centre for Advanced Visualisation and Interaction (CAVI) researches design by experimenting and innovating digital design solutions. Join the Impact tour to CAVI and experience some of their fascinating, interactive designs live.
CAVI carries out research through practical design experiments aimed at getting insight into interaction design, design processes, interfaces, and use cases. They cooperate with researchers and external partners, for instance, schools and design agencies. In the cultural computing field, CAVI has worked with independent artists and cultural institutions such as libraries and museums. The centre has existed for more than 20 years and has been involved in hundreds of projects, some of which are showcased within CAVI’s building at the university. CAVI is a research centre as a collaboration between the Department of Digital Design and Information Studies and the Department of Computer Science.
At CAVI researchers have a long tradition of connecting the physical world with the digital world in innovative ways by using modelling and simulation technologies as well as developing new hardware and use scenarios. Rethinking is imagining how the world could be by creative use of digital technologies. Impact is at the heart of the centre’s existence and practice. With design installations that affect people emotionally and intellectually CAVI together with partners and researchers has impact on how we grasp and understand technology in our society.
During the Impact tour going to CAVI attendees will get a unique chance to see and interact with some projects showcased at CAVI. This way attendees will experience new experimental technologies that cannot be experienced elsewhere. Sign up for the tour to visit a futuristic, interactive playground, that’s certainly fun for kids as well.
