Our vision of the conference and the theme ‘Rethink Impact’ includes hosting a more sustainable conference. In 2019, Aarhus University, VisitAarhus, Aarhus Events, and Worldperfect partnered up with the Climate Department of the City of Aarhus and local tourism businesses. An outcome of this partnership has been the “Green Conference and Event Handbook”, which encompass principles of sustainable conferences. 

 
We took several measures to reduce the carbon footprint of this year’s conference. One of the initiatives is that all participants are supplied with reusable water bottles, which will contribute to reducing the waste of plastic bottles and cups. Additionally, we offer only vegetarian food and encourage everyone to either walk, ride a bike or use public transportation. Finally, the special ECREA bus ticket is also an initiative to encourage using public transport and reduce the carbon footprint. 

It is also possible to download a conference app containing the most relevant information about the academic and social programme, Impact tours, navigation, etc. We hope to reduce waste from printed materials through the conference app as default and a “pick what you need” buffet for merchandise and printed information materials near the registration desk. The tote bag with a bright Rethink Impact logo was especially designed for the conference and can be purchased for 10€/75DKK at the registration desk.
