Both groups will have the same guided tour, but will start in two different parts of the Palm House, in the Butterfly house and the Conservationhouse.  Each of the two groups is limited to 20, and the groups will change places half-way through the tour to ensure that everyone sees both areas.

Following a short introduction by Mia Pedersen and Sam Bruun-Lund participants will hear about and discuss following subjects throughout the tours:

  • Plants which are native to, or found in, former Danish colonies such as Tranquebar, West Africa, the Caribbean
  • The Tamarind tree seedlings that were given to Queen Margrethe II during her visit to Ghana in 2017
  • The technical aspects of creating/maintaining these warm climates in the Northern Hemisphere -- both when the building was constructed in the 1870s and now
  • Conservation of plants, endangered and threatened plants (some due to human use), houseplants that everybody knows and have in their windowsill – but that are threatened in the wild, how the plants in Danish homes often originate from date plants that were propagated and sold in the Copenhagen Botanical Gardens - and thereby their history with regard to expeditions conducted in the past

The program ends at 16:15. At this point Mia Pedersen and Sam Bruun-Lund will walk everyone out of the garden as it is after closing time.
