Participation

The number of participants for the EM-23 Conference is limited to 100 and for the EM-23 Early Career Scientist Workshop to 25 participants.

Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Furthermore, to participate in the Conference (and the linked Workshop) it is a prerequisite that you actively contribute to the conference program which you do by presenting your work in form of either a poster or an oral presentation at the EM-23 Conference. Thus, to be able to register for the Conference (and the Workshop) you must first submit an abstract and after receiving acceptance of that you will receive a link for registering to the EM-23 Conference. Likewise, if you in the abstract submission form have indicated a wish to attend the ECS Workshop, the accepted abstract notice will include an independent invitation/link for registration for the ECS Workshop.

Price

EM-23 Conference Wednesday May 24 to Friday, May 26

DKK 4.500 ( ~ 600€ ) The price will include meals and accommodation (2 nights) at Helnan Marselis Hotel

EM-23 Early Career Scientist Workshop Monday May 22 to Wednesday May 24

Registration DKK 750 ( ~100€ ) The price will include shared bus T/R Aarhus to venue, accomodation, and meals (kitchen duties to be shared among participants).

Travel grants for Masters' students and PhD students

When you submit your abstract, you can indicate that you apply for a travel grant to cover documented travel expenses. There will be a minimum of 20 travel grants, and travel expenses up to  DKK 5.000 (~672€) per student can be applied for. After abstract submission has closed, the organizers will reveiw the applicants and select the participants that will receive a travel grant. Information of whether your have received a travel grant or not will be given in mid-April. If you apply for a travel grant, please be aware that you should fill in an estimate of the amount required for your travels in the abstract submission webpage.


Registration

All participants for the EM-23 conference and ECS Workshop must contribute to the conference with a poster presentation or an oral presentation.

Thus, if you want to participate, please submit an abstract (see submission guideline below).

Registration(s) depends on an accepted abstract and abstracts will be evaluated on a rolling basis.

Note: participation in ECS Workshop is conditioned on accepted abstract AND on conference participation.

After acceptance of your abstract, you will receive a personal e-mail with an invitation to register for the Conference / ECS Workshop.

How to submit your abstract

There is no fee for submission of abstract.

The abstract submission opens on February 15 (stay tuned for conference updates on Twitter and through your electromicrobiology network).

The abstract submission deadline is April 15 at 23pm (Cent. Europ. Sum. Time (CEST), UTC +2) however, the abstracts will be evaluated on a rolling basis, as will reply to the author on whether the abstract is accepted or rejected.

To submit your abstract, please follow these steps:

Information to authors on whether to contribute with a poster or an oral presentation will be sent out to the author soon after the abstract deadline.

The oral/poster categorization of the individual presentation is carefully made with respect to forming a program that covers the full diversity of conference themes, as well as the diversity of participants in terms of gender, career stage, geography, etc. The conference program is designed with ample time for studying and discussing the posters which will be accessible in the break room at all hours throughout the conference.

All accepted abstracts will be included in an abstract booklet and handed out to all participants by the start of the conference. A PDF version will be e-mailed to all participants before the conference starts.
