Purpose

The Early Career Scientist (ECSWorkshop will provide a primer for Electromicrobiology 2025, specifically targeted at PhD students and postdocs. It will combine introductory lectures, hands-on experiences in electromicrobiology techniques, including field, laboratory, and theoretical exercises, and an opportunity to present and discuss your own research, network with colleagues and peers, and discuss career paths with the invited speakers and other electromicrobiology experts, all in the informal environment of Aarhus University’s Marine Biological Station Rønbjerg.

Hands-on exercises

  • Electromicrobiology: Cyclic voltammetry with Shewanella

  • Cable bacteria: field excursion, microsensor analysis and microscopy

  • Multiheme cytochromes: in silico & wet lab protein analysis
