Transportation

TO/FROM AARHUS

By train

Aarhus University is a big supporter of climate-friendly transport, so we very much recommend transport by train or bus (such as Flixbus) to Aarhus. To search for possible train or bus transport from your home location, the Omio app provides great travel itineraries and ticket options.

From Copenhagen airport (Kastrup)

If air-travel is a necessity, travel to Aarhus from the main airports is possible in several ways.

  • Trains take around 3.5 – 4 hours from Copenhagen airport.
  • Schedules and tickets can be accessed at: https://www.dsb.dk/en/
  • The bus (Kombardo Expressen) takes around 4 hours and includes a 2 hour-long (very pleasant) crossing on the Molslinjen ferry from the Zealand island to the Jutland peninsula. They leave from outside of Terminal 3 and stop at the Opera House (“Musikhuset”), a 10 minute walk from the railway station.
  • Schedules and tickets: http://www.kombardoexpressen.dk/
  • Their website is in Danish, so do contact us in case you need help with booking.

From Billund airport

Bus 912X takes around 1.5 hours and stops in front of the Aarhus railway station. Busses leave from right in front of the airport and are usually scheduled in connection with incoming/outgoing flights.

Tickets can be bought on the app or online, both of which can be found on the website:

GETTING TO THE CONFERENCE SITE

The conference will be at Aarhus University. The exact building and room numbers will be given closer to the conference date. We recommend going to the website or using the app below to easily find the building you are looking for on campus.

The Department (Global Studies) is in building 1465-1467, third and fourth floors. The conference venue will be in close proximity of the department.

For finding your way around Aarhus, we recommend GoogleMaps.

Aarhus University has several campuses, in and out of town. Our campus is Nobelparken and is located some 30 minutes walking from the center of Aarhus and 40 minutes from the railway station.

Busses nr. 100, 123, 200, 118, 16, 18 all stop at Nobelparken and at the railway station. Tram (“Letbane”) line L2 (direction: Lystrup) leaves from platform 1 at the railway station and stops at Nobelparken (stop: Aarhus Universitet/Ringgaden). It takes approx. 10 minutes by tram.

From the center of Aarhus, the quickest and easiest way to get to Nobelparken is the tram. Simply walk 5 minutes to Dokk1 station or Skolebakken station on the (beautiful) waterfront and ride the tram to Aarhus Universitet station (not Universitetsparken), and Nobelparken will be on the right of the platform.

Please note that tickets can no longer be purchased on the buses or tram. But Midttrafik, the transport company, has a very easy-to-use website and app.
