Moesgaard is an archaeological and anthropological museum located in the beautiful landscape in Højbjerg to the south of Aarhus. Here you can experience both the past and present of humans through world-class staged and dramatized stories. On Wednesday we offer three different guided tours and a lecture by museum curator Xenia Pauli Jensen:
- Pre-conference Moesgaard guided tour – Illerup Ådal (Wednesday 20 May, 10:45–11:45):Guided tour of the permanent exhibition presenting the finds from the site of Illerup Ådal.
- Pre-conference Moesgaard guided tour – Celts (Wednesday 20 May, 11:15–12:15): Guided tour of the temporary exhibition The Celtic World – Europe’s Lost Legacy.
- Pre-conference Moesgaard guided tour – Iron Age (Wednesday 20 May, 11:45–12:45): Guided tour of the permanent Iron Age exhibition.
- Pre-conference Moesgaard lecture + reception (Wednesday 20 May, 15:30–18:00): This option will include the lecture ‘Rome in Iron Age Denmark: Discoveries and State of Research’ by Xenia Pauli Jensen in the museum auditorium, followed by a reception featuring wine, soft drinks, and nibbles at the university campus located downhill from the museum
The prices for the guided tours are 20 GBP each, the lecture including reception 15 GBP. These should be booked when you register for the conference. Be aware that this does not include entrance fee to the museum which is 180 DKR if you buy it online. Remember to bring your ICOM card if you have one as that gives you free entrance.
