Meiying Xu is Professor/Senior Scientist in environmental microbiology and environmental engineering research and currently the deputy director of Guangdong Institute of Microbiology, Guangdong Academy of Sciences. She holds a PhD in Science and is specialized in environmental microbial physiology and functional genomics, and bioremediation of polluted ecosystems.
Her research focuses on the construction and regulation of microbial networks for degradation and detoxification of toxic refractory organic pollutants in polluted aquatic ecosystems.
The prominent social impact of the many environmental pollution treatment projects based on her research findings has won her several science and technology awards, including the First-Class Prize Award in Science and Technology of Guangdong Province (2018), National “Ten Thousand Talent Program” and National Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars.
